Assessment and Appeals : Guidelines on Assignments and Assessment Proceedures
Assessment Guidelines/Proceedures Performance Feedback Prior Learning Appeals Assessment Strategies  
Tutors will be encouraged to provide students with advanced notification of assignments, as early in the course as possible, to help them to plan their workloads and gather appropriate resources.
Students will be given the opportunity to discuss their course, their progress and any issues or concerns they may be encountering.
Students will be given the opportunity to resubmit work, particularly when the student has misunderstood the assignment requirements.
Tutors involved in assessing students will have credibility in terms of relevant professional expertise as well as academic requirements.
Where possible a marking schedule will have detailed criteria to assist tutors/assessors in maintaining consistency across a class of students, whether for assignments or examinations.
To ensure that tutors involved in assessing students are applying similar marking criteria all students’ answers will be marked question by question, that is, all of question one, then all of question two etc, rather than marking each student’s complete work.
