| Peter has been principal of the Eastern Suburbs Community College since his appointment, in 1988, to develop a regional adult education network in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. |
| He has been an educator since 1975 when, after completing teacher training in inner London, he went on to work as a high school teacher and youth worker. |
| In Sydney he completed an MA(Ed.) at Macquarie University while working in community advocacy, editing and publishing, consumer information and adult education. |
| Peter continues to be actively involved in community affairs in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, where he has been a resident since 1978. |
